DJ Askari: Music

The bus ride which Askari used to take to elementary school in Athens in the late '70 was nearly an hour long, and the sole entertainment was provided by an 8-track player. The programming was courtesy of the juniors and seniors, and the music was, of course, disco. This, combined with 80s pop he would listen to growing up, formed the basis for his love of music.

House music was the next logical step, and Askari' styles of choice - French & Disco House - were offspring of disco. His passion for house was influenced over the years by the Mastermix dance parties on New York's Kiss-FM; London's Capital FM; and clubs such as Boston's Avalon, Miami's Living Room, and NYC's Area, Palladium, Spy Bar, and Spa's White Room.

Because he believes that music should be positive, Askari rarely plays darker genres such as trance or techno or even hard house.

His repertoire of music includes genres besides house, spanning '80s, disco, and hip-hop, and old-school rock.
